Hello ?
Today, I’d like you to generate a list of 6 random words and find a way to include at least 4 of them in your song.
Writing Instrumental Music?
Choose one instrument or riff/musical phrase that will express each word. You can turn to Peter and the Wolf for inspiration.
Writing Lyrics?
You could choose to include the 4 words in your lyrics or use the same technique as above and express these words in the music or a mix of both approaches.
Have fun!
Can’t wait to read or hear what you come up with in the comments ?
Sincerely,
Joyce
PS: the Wikipedia page about Peter and the Wolf is pretty cool, especially the “instrumentation” section.
Six random words were generated; stiff, boar, pieces, begin, loop and convertible. Four were chosen to be represented in this song; stiff, pieces, begin and loop. The track is here; https://soundcloud.com/jeff-van-beek/sixwords/s-ygryWFyGr2I.
Really enjoyed this track, you manage to convey great emotion with just a few minimalist elements. Well done ?
I loved this when I eventually got to it. The words I chose from my 6 were; Extract, Magnificent, Drowning and Cellular. The tune I ended up with was a musical transition from Classical to House where the House Music suddenly drowned out the classical side. Just seemed like the abrupt transition from Child to Teen and so I called the Track Turning Teen. https://soundcloud.com/sean-mcbride-5/turning-teen
Nice one Sean ! I was wondering how the transition would work out when reading your description. Turns out it works ! Well done 🙂
